Honest Woman

Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds got hitched this weekend at small ceremony for friends and family, at a wilderness resort outside of Vancouver, B.C. Here's hoping we see some actual wedding photos from the camera-shy couple.I see babies. Lots of really hot babies.

A registry after my own heart

Well-played Erica. Clearly our margarita-fueled bridal magazine sessions are leaving an impression. Looking forward to using these after the wedding!

Potential Day-Of Details

Well as you can imagine I spent my Sunday night scouring through the instantly available photos of rhe Emmy red carpet for actresses looking the part of potential blushing brides. Enjoy!

(Aside: I saw a number of dresses ankle-length dresses on the red-carpet. LOVE IT! It's like a breath of fresh air. Let's see some of this on the aisle, ok ladies?)

My Best Friend's Wedding

Yipee! Another celebrity bridesmaid!

Rachel Bilson makes her way down the aisle as maid-of-honor in the wedding of Jill Stonerock (her best friend) and Josh Schwartz (creator of The O.C., Gossip Girl and Chuck). Rachel, with designer Brian Reyes, designed the bridesmaid dresses.

Dress me up

Le sigh. I have a little more than 48 hours to find the perfect engagement party dress for a fabulous shindig on the Hay-Adams roof-top, and I got nothing. Except the dream of this beautiful Abaete number that would be just perfect.

But fortunately or unfortunately, my wallet is smarter than I am hasn't let me entertain the thought.
Darn it.

Covering Up

I've gotten a lot of questions about a certain accessory that this little lady paired with her JCrew bridal gown. Here's the scoop: the gorgeous shrug came from Portland designer Holly Stalder. Nina emailed Holly a picture of her dress, and in return she sent her several options from which to choose. It must have been hard to decide, I can only imagine the choices were as pretty as these lovelies. . .

Nina made her decision just in time, right before the rehearsal dinner. Take a look at what else Holly has to offer on Etsy.

Ladies in waiting

I know someone who has a fabulous idea for her bridesmaid dresses, but. . . I can't tell you about it just yet. Let's just say, it's not something I've seen much of before, and I'm doubly excited because I get to do more than just admire it. I get to wear it! Anywho, I'll wait until we all walk down the aisle before the big reveal, but in the meantime, here are some more fabulous ideas from the Fall 2008 Bridesmaid Collections. Enjoy!

When the weather outside gets frightful

For those of you ladies getting married this winter, I think you're going to need something to put over your dress to keep you warm. And I think it should be this.

The dinner before the dinner

I'm on the prowl for the perfect rehearsal dinner venue for a family wedding in May, which has me thinking of my own wedding rehearsal of course.

Awww. Exactly two years and three days ago. We look so timid even from this angle! And don't get me started on my hair (current progress: shoulder length).

The actual dinner was held for a small group of friends and family in the Concorde Room of the Hay-Adams Hotel.
It was a great night. The Hay-Adams is so beautiful and elegant, and the service and food are amazing. And even though it was a rather formal affair, having everyone at one table kept it intimate.
And my most favorite part (aside from the beautiful flowers by Allan Woods and the fact that dinner was served on our wedding china) was the candlelight. The room was glowing.

If you're looking for a place to hold the dinner before the dinner, check out this list from the Going out Gurus, part of the Post's Wedding Week.

Red carpet round-up

Oh it's just so fun to come home from a weekend getaway (visiting this guy) and find that there were lots of glamorous events the past week, and with them plenty of fashion to scour over for those perfect white-dress details.

She's already got the promise ring

The super-cute Katy Perry recently dressed up as some kind spunky of and you know, inquisitive bride on the set of her new music video for "Hot N Cold". Which got me thinking. . .how long before we see a wedding between Katy and Gym Class Heroes frontman Travis McCoy?

Have a seat

So right now I'm on a search for the perfect chair to fill out that last empty corner of our living room. And while sadly, there is no way this funky piece from Anthropologie will work (it's just a bit too big and well, a bit too much) . . . I love it just the same.

And it reminds me that sometimes you just can't find everything you need to start your registry and your home at one or two or even three home stores. If you're having that very problem, I suggest you take a look at sites like MyRegistry.com, TheThingsIWant.com and FindGift.com. They allow you to in one place pull together your own list of gift ideas from different sources. Shop around!

Coming up roses

Can someone please tell me how exactly I'm supposed to curb my shopping habits when JCrew makes a point of contacting me via email to let me know about lovely little pieces like this?

It comes in five other colors and one of them is bound to work with your bridesmaids' dresses. Oh and in case you're looking for something to match your dress. . .you'll find it in white too!
