Checkout please

In the four years plus that I've been married, I've become a black-belt at online shopping. No joke. . .some people can bake. . .I can evaluate measurements and fabric quality from screen caps like it's my job. But I do kind of wish I'd been this good back then. . .not to say I would have changed my wedding dress or anything, but I think I would have heavily considered buying my dress online. Particularly if at the time Jason Wu was about to launch an exclusive bridal collection for Net-a-Porter, like he is this January!

oh it's ON

Guys, this is big. MAJOR. Can you believe that we have a real-life, fairy-tale, ROYAL WEDDING to look forward to in 2011?
(Picture via Hello magazine)
Prince William has finally popped the question to his "commoner" would-be princess, Kate Middleton, who from this day forward will be referred to by the royals as the much fancier "Catherine".

Did you hear me? A commoner will marry her prince charming. Literally. It's too good. It's TOO much. I live for this stuff. Plus, I've always found Kate to be ever-the classic and stylish lady, and I expect the big day to deliver on all points.

And of course, the dress speculation has already begun! Here are the first few efforts courtesy of designers Stephane Rolland and Ben De Lis.

But don't ask me for my vote because there's no way I'm weighing in this early. I wonder if I should just go ahead and get a subscription to Hello! now?

Fresh air

I couldn't help but smile when I saw this dress on Design Sponge last week, gorgeous, unique yet really simple.
And wouldn't you know it? This enterprising young lady has decided to sell her dress! Email her at cathy@westrell.se.

Duty Calls

I love seeing celebrities play bridesmaid, it really reminds me how we all have to do it sooner or later. Here's Jessica Alba at a friend's wedding this past Saturday.
Think she'll ever wear the dress again?

Duff Diamond

Photographers zoomed in Hilary Duff's engagement and wedding rings at charity event in NYC yesterday and yowza! Aside from the fact that it's ginormous, I'm really digging the overall blunt and rectangular look of the two (or is it three?) rings together.

Come away with me

At first glance on Green Wedding Shoes, I thought it was so not my style, but I've fallen in love with the simplicity and spirit of this camp wedding.

Ahhh!!!

So read the text I received recently from my sister-in-law, along with a picture of this stunner...
Ahhh!!! is right! My wish has been granted and we've got another family wedding to plan, yippee!
Congratulations to Kay and John. (Anyone else think he looks like Ben Folds?).

Better than a postcard

I read this post over at Design Sponge and just went gaga. As a part of their new inspiration/creation segment, the D*S gals make a muse out of a picturesque Italian getaway that results in a gorgeous arrangement of flowers.

It's great to be reminded that inspiration can come from absolutely anywhere.

Pet Peeve

Believe me, I am NOT above the occasional misspelling, but as a lover of almost all things paper, this particular one just gets under my skin. Tote around your own personal spellcheck reminder via Sapling Press. Thanks to Oh So Beautiful Paper for the find.

Oh snap

Yes, this is clearly the cake Rainbow Brite would have chosen should she have gotten married (to my knowledge, she remains a bachelorette). But I can't help it, I think it's kind of fabulous. Simple and stark white from the outside but when you cut the cake. . .technicolor! Check out the how-to over at Whisk Kid.

Counting the days

T-19 days until we're spending the first weekend of the season at "the shore" and I can't wait! I just saw this pic of Zooey on weheartit and it reminded me of the gorgeous vintage-inspired swimsuits I saw online at Anthropologie. Love. And somebody just-so happens to have an Anthro gift card burning a hole in her pocket, courtesy of her fabulous in-laws. Lucky me!

Stemware

You can call me conservative, but I have never been a fan of the garter toss at weddings. The whole thing just makes me avert my eyes. Until I set my eyes on this provocative little number. . .
Does it not make you do a double-take? A chic alternative to what you you usually find out there. If you must garter, then I suggest something along these lines, designed by La Boheme. Thanks to The Brides Cafe for pointing it out!

Simple and stunning

You know if the fates don't want me to spend so much time on the internet, then people need to stop putting such delicious distracting blogs out there. I'm just saying.

Current time-killer: two ellie and these bridal portraits.
The bride's dress once belonged to her mother, and she had it reworked to create a more modern silhouette. But the real winner for me is the makeup - SO natural and gorgeous. I just love how effortless her whole look is.

What was I doing again?

Gown glee

Did you watch? Admittedly I fell asleep for the last half hour and had to rewind to watch the major awards. Hooray for Sandra (hometown girl!) and hooray for gorgeous gowns! My two faves from the evening:
Rachel McAdams in Elie Saab
Lea Michele, in Oscar de la Renta

A little drab you say? I don't know, they speak to me. Ooh and did anyone else have the same thought I did when Rachel McAdams presented with Jake Gyllenhaal? Love match?

Registrologie

When a couple's registry is looking depleted, I usually pick them up something from my favorite, favorite, favorite store, Anthropologie. It's so easy to find something whimsical and chic there and I'm not going to lie, I appreciate the chance to do a little browsing for myself too (most recent unintended purchase: this number, in kelly green). So it truly boggles my mind that they don't have a wedding registry system. It's just plain wrong.

If you too are an Anthropologie fan, cheer up because where there's a will there's a way. Why not use their wish list option? Let your bridesmaids spread the word and turn your newly married home into a cozy stylish little love nest!

Need to know

Now see here, I'm not going to tell you again all about my borderline-inappropriate feelings for that stationery Disneyland that is Paper Source. Not that I don't want to wax poetic about my retail crush, but there simply isn't enough time. . .the store is hosting three great upcoming wedding events that that you simply must hear about, and you must hear about them now!
First there's The Wedding Tea, Saturday, February 20th, 10 - 11 am. Come and enjoy "a lovely morning of tea and sweet treats" and an up-close-and-personal peek at the Paper Source 2010 Invitation Collection. Tickets are $15 each, attendees receive 10% off of any purchases made that day.

Then there's their Paper Wedding - two days of complimentary DIY stationery sessions Saturday and Sunday, February 20th - 21st. Learn how to dress up an envelope, embellish an invitation and coordinate your wedding favors, table tents and escort cards.

And finally there's Wedding Suites, Thursday March 4, 6-8pm. Wine and cheese will be served - and frankly I don't know why you'd need to know more than that - but if an added incentive is necessary, the Paper Source team will help you create an elegant wedding suite from their collection of invitations, escort cards, table tents and favors. Tickets are $30, attendees will receive 10% off any purchases made that evening.

Phew, ok, you are now free to go about your business.
